Genre is both a musical description and a store-navigation decision. The best category puts the track near records that the intended buyer already understands.

Store taxonomies change and do not always match social-platform language. Research the destination catalog instead of selecting from memory.

What matters

  • Choose for the buyer you want to reach.
  • Compare complete arrangements, not isolated sounds.
  • Use current store categories and representative releases.
  • Document ambiguous decisions for the label or distributor.
